Boat craft island

30 min to another world

Just 30 minutes from the city center, Fjäderholmarna has long been a beloved summer escape for locals. Now, with a growing community of artists, makers, and creative hosts, it’s becoming something new.

While Stockholmers still call it Fjäderholmarna, we’re pretty sure you’ll find Craft Island the more honest name.

And let’s be real, it’s a lot easier to pronounce, too.

A place to slow down, try something by hand, and feel the joy of making. Whether you’re joining a pottery circle, taking a yoga + weaving retreat, or just exploring the studios and swimming rocks, getting here is part of the magic.

There are three main ways to arrive:

Strömma Kanalbolaget

Step aboard one of Stockholm’s classic sightseeing boats and enjoy a breezy, beautiful ride through the inner archipelago. Strömma’s ferries are not just transport, they’re an experience in themselves.

Departs from Strandvägen (Stockholm city center)

Travel time: Around 30–35 minutes to Fjäderholmarna

Ticket price: Typically between 180-220 SEK round-trip

Discounts often available for children, seniors, and families

Schedule: Boats run 3–5 times per day depending on the season

Bonus:

 • Onboard café or bar available on many departures

 • Great for group outings, families, or date day escapes

Whether you’re planning a creative day trip or just want to sail through the city like a local in love with summer, Strömma is a classic choice.
